Question 3 - Over 40% of Montgomery County’s greenhouse gas emissions come from transportation. What policies and investments would you support to address this?

Transcript: To reduce our transportation emissions in Montgomery County, we need to get people out of their cars and we need to get the cars that are left emissions-free. How do we get people out of their cars? We make bicycling a safe, viable commuting option. We make sure the trains run on time. We make sure the buses are fare-free forever and that they go places that people wanna go. Now, how do we get the emissions reduced through cars? We need to make sure that we have electric vehicles and that they’re powered by clean energy, which means expanding solar electricity, wind electricity, and geothermal electricity, and then giving those cars preferential treatment on our roads in HOV lanes, making sure there are charging stations everywhere, and – Dad pun – to accelerate transition to an all electric fleet by offering financial incentives.
