Question 3 - Over 40% of Montgomery County’s greenhouse gas emissions come from transportation. What policies and investments would you support to address this?

Transcript: “If we want to cut down on greenhouse gas emissions caused by transportation, we need walkable, self-sustaining communities, and so I fully support the Thrive plan of doing that: building more housing near mass transit, increasing bus service, to just make mass transit easier for everyone to use. But also the walkable communities like Downtown Silver Spring, where I live, I’m fortunate enough to live in walking distance from pretty much everything, and I would love to see other communities like that throughout the county.”

Spanish: “Si queremos reducir las emisiones de gases de efecto invernadero causadas por el transporte, necesitamos comunidades transitables y autosuficientes, por lo que apoyo totalmente el plan Thrive de hacer eso: construir más viviendas cerca del transporte público, aumentar el servicio de autobuses, simplemente hacer tránsito más fácil de usar para todos. Pero también las comunidades transitables como el centro de Silver Spring, donde vivo, tengo la suerte de vivir a poca distancia de casi todo, y me encantaría ver otras comunidades como esa en todo el condado.”
