Andrew Einsmann - Question 3

Question 3: Over 40% of Montgomery County’s greenhouse gas emissions come from transportation. What policies and investments would you support to address this?

Transcript: Question 3: In order to reduce greenhouse carbon emissions, there are a lot of different programs I'd like to talk about. The first thing I would like is to extend the shade of the Shady Grove Metro out to Germantown. If that is not an option, then definitely I would like, I've been champion this for about 15 years now, reversible HOV-2+ lanes from Shady Grove all the way up to Frederick so the morning rush hour they come down the afternoon rush hour they go up. But all the lanes go lead to the Shady Grove Metro parking lot so that everyone goes from the road to the Metro downtown. So the next thing I would like is improve and incentivize solar panels and EV cars. That way we have a cleaner grid, so when the cars are connected to the grid, it's cleaner and we have more EV cars on the road. So the combination of more rail systems, more use of public transit, the reversible lanes from 270 up and down and the use of clean EV cars, hopefully that'll reduce our greenhouse.
