Jacqueline Manger - Question 1

Question 1: The Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments projects that Montgomery County’s population will increase by 200,000 over the next 30 years. How should the county prepare for future growth?

Transcript: Hello, Montgomery for All. I'm Jacqueline Manger, and I need your vote for Montgomery County Council. Please check out my website mangerformontgomery.com. First question: how should our county prepare for future growth? At only 90 seconds, I cannot talk about all aspects of this important issue, but with that said, when I hear about population growth, I think three things. One, we need good jobs here in our county for those people in our county. Two, we need truly affordable housing available to every hard working person in Montgomery County. And three, we have to be thoughtful and thoughtfully invest in our infrastructure, accessible, safe schools to meet the population needs, a communication infrastructure to support this growth, and a multimodal, accessible transportation system. Prioritizing transit on existing roadways is greener, and we want holistic solutions that will encourage our expanded population to use transit when they can.
